Zhanseit Tuimebayev: State support for the paper industry is important for export capacity building

NUR-SULTAN, May 29, 2019 – The Forum "Development of paper and packaging industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held at the Exhibition Center "Korme" in Nur-Sultan. It was organized by Assembly of People of Kazakhstan’s Entrepreneurs Association together with Packers Association of Kazakhstan.
The forum was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan – Head of APK’s Secretariat of Executive Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Industrial Development and Industrial Safety Committee of the MIIR of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Baitov, Chairman of Packers Association of Kazakhstan Batyrbek Temirov and others.
According to Kanat Baitov, the paper industry grew by 4.1% in 2018. This has become possible due to the outpacing growth of the manufacturing industry by 4%.
Direct support will be provided in exchange for counter commitments of business to achieve specific indicators," Kanat Baitov said.
Chairman of the Industrial Development and Industrial Security Committee noted that the industrial policy will retain continuity and will be focused on stimulating the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in the domestic and foreign markets.
In the course of the forum, Head of APK’s Secretariat Zhanseit Tuimebayev told the audience about the work done and the results of Entrepreneurs Association of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.
The analysis of the capacity of the processing industry market in 2016 showed that the total import volume of products is 7 trillion 342 billion tenge, or 62% of the demand.
This is a huge market that should be occupied by Kazakhstani producers," said Deputy Chairman of the Assembly.
He also noted that in the framework of assistance to active and enterprising young people an expert council for the selection of youth startups and business ideas was created, the work of the Council of Young Entrepreneurs of the Association "Youth Entrepreneurship - universal innovation" was organized.
Noting the importance of the paper-pulp industry, Zhanseit Tuimebayev said that about 300 enterprises operate in the field of paper production.
“Packaging is the face of the goods. The more representative and beautiful it will look for the buyer, the more opportunities he will have to purchase this product.
And quite often the customer buys the goods based on the packaging of the goods, not because of the need to buy this product. Good packaging plays the role of a "5-second commercial". Thus, packaging becomes an effective marketing tool.
Therefore, government support for these two sectors was important for export capacity building," noted Head of Secretariat.
At the end of the forum, Zhanseit Tuimebayev presented diplomas to managers and representatives of the paper-pulp industry for their outstanding contribution to the development of the industry.
