Upcoming Parliamentary election in Kazakhstan discussed in Tallinn
Ambassador of Kazakhstan Nurlan Seitimov met with a member of the Riigikogu (Parliament) of the Republic of Estonia, Chairman of the National Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and a member of the observer mission from the organization for the upcoming parliamentary election in Kazakhstan Sven Sester, El.kz cites MFA.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the features of the electoral process in Kazakhstan, promotion of interaction between the parliaments of Kazakhstan and Estonia, development trends of parliamentary diplomacy and prospects for expanding bilateral Kazakh-Estonian political, trade and economic cooperation.
In this vein, the Kazakh diplomat informed about the main directions of the reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan as part of strengthening the role of the legislative branch. Special attention was paid to renewed electoral legislation, in particular, new proportional-majoritarian model of the elections.
In turn, Sester noted the importance of improving the electoral system and expressed interest in monitoring the elections with a subsequent objective assessment of the voting results.
