President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Transport Minister Marat Karabayev, El.kz reports via Akorda.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the outcomes of the Ministry’s activities in 2024 and plans for the upcoming period.
According to Marat Karabayev, the volume of cargo transportation for 2024 increased by 6%. Transportation via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased by 62% and amounted to 4.5 million tons. The construction of 3 new passenger terminals at the airports of Almaty, Kyzylorda and Shymkent has been completed. Repair work covered 12 thousand kilometers of roads. The reconstruction of the Karaganda-Almaty, Taldykorgan-Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe-Kandyagash and Atyrau-Astrakhan highways has been completed.
The President was informed that Kazakh airlines transported 14.7 million passengers with an increase of 10%, 29.7 million people were served at airports with an increase of 14%. 21 million passengers were transported by rail (an increase of 3.9%).
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed that in 2025, the Ministry of Transport plans to launch 19 new air routes to Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The construction of Katon-Karagay, Zaisan and Kendirli is underway. The modernization of 125 railway stations is also beginning. The implementation of 5 major railway projects will continue: Dostyk-Moiynty, Almaty bypass line, Darbaza-Maktaaral, Ayagoz-Bakhty and Kyzylzhar-Moiynty.
Following the meeting, the President noted the importance to create more comfortable conditions for the movement of Kazakhstanis and improve the accessibility of tourist locations.
The Head of State instructed to accelerate the construction of the Center-West highway, expand the Western Europe-Western China corridor, pay special attention to the development of TITR, increase the number of domestic and international flights, as well as promote investment in the transport sector.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of developing the transport and logistics industry as a whole, as well as the high-quality and timely implementation of projects to modernize the transport infrastructure.
