Tokayev meets with Director-General of International Labour Organization

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization,El.kz news agency reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

During the meeting the Head of State stressed the role of the ILO in promoting the principles of social justice on a global scale.

“The ILO's mission to ensure a reliable, fair and effective social contract, as well as to promote workers' rights, is absolutely indisputable. Kazakhstan has ratified 25 key ILO conventions," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

Gilbert Houngbo praised the large-scale reforms being implemented under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the way to building a Just Kazakhstan. He also told the President about fruitful meetings with representatives of the Government and emphasized the leading position of Kazakhstan in the region in promoting the goals and objectives of the ILO.

Your country is making significant efforts to ensure a supportive social and labour environment, which is in line with our Organization's initiatives promoted through the Global Coalition for Social Justice," the Director-General stressed.

The interlocutors agreed to further strengthen cooperation with practical measures aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's social policy and developing a mutually beneficial partnership with the ILO.
