Tokayev arrives in Kostanay region affected by floods

Upon arrival, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev flew over the flooded territories to familiarize with the current situation in the region, El.kz cites Akorda.

According to governor Kumar Aksakalov, an emergency situation was declared in six regions due the floods. Out of 492 villages, 11 settlements suffered the most from the flood. To date, the situation has returned to normal, but 51 houses remain flooded. In addition, 4 bridges, 7 road sections were washed away, 1414 power supply towers were damaged.

The President was briefed on the current state of the region's main hydraulic structures. Kumar Aksakalov reported that controlled discharge of water from reservoirs is provided in order to prevent flooding of settlements and infrastructure.
