On November 9, the XIX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, dedicated to the issues of the agricultural sector as the foundation of sustainable economic development, began in Kostanay. The presidents of both countries, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin, are participating in the forum via video link, El.kz reports.

The forum will bring together representatives of the business community, government agencies, the scientific community, as well as the heads of the regions of the two countries. The event will open with a meeting of the Kazakh-Russian Business Council, which will consider issues of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, including mechanical engineering for the agro-industrial complex, the development of transport infrastructure and technical support for agricultural projects.

Within the framework of the forum, three panel discussions are planned on topical topics: methods of ensuring food security, the use of digital technologies in the agro-industrial complex and new directions in agricultural education of young people.

As a result of the forum, it is planned to sign a number of interregional and commercial agreements. Russia is one of Kazakhstan's key trading partners. At the end of 2022, bilateral trade reached $27 billion (with exports from Kazakhstan for $9.1 billion and imports for $17.9 billion), which accounted for approximately 20% (19.9%) of Kazakhstan's total foreign trade. In the first eight months of this year, trade reached $17 billion, exceeding last year's level by 1.1%.
