THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 29 YEARS AGO, THE DUNGANS OF KAZAKHSTAN HELD THE FIRST REPUBLICAN CONSTITUENT CONFERENCE
This day in history: 29 years ago the first Republican Dungan constituent conference was held.
In 1989, the first Republican Dungan founding conference was held in Almaty, where it was decided to establish Dungan cultural center.
The first chairmen of Dungan cultural center were elected Bakir Bayakhunov and Ilyas Vansvanov.
Republican Dungan cultural center was registered a little later on August 28, 2006. Currently, the head is Farida Mashanlo.
Cultural centers were registered in places of concentration of Dungan in the Kurdai district, Dzhambul region: Masanchi and Shortyube, then in Dunganovka (Jalpak tyube) Jambul.
Currently there are branches of Dungan cultural center in Akmola, Aktobe, Almaty, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan regions and Astana.
The main projects of the Association are the development of culture, sports and education, the unity of the Dungan ethnos, education of patriotism, identification and support of young talents, organization and holding of cultural events, festivals, competitions and conferences.

Also, the activities of the cultural center are aimed at active participation in the activities of other ethnicities, cooperation with activists of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, China, to promote public holidays, state symbols, state language, explanation of the articles of the law of Kazakhstan, collection of materials, preparation and holding of exhibitions of applied arts and dishes, leisure activities, work with young families.
