The Qaraghandy Academic Musical Comedy Theatre completed its tour at Astana Opera. The tour that took place at the opera house’s Grand Hall from August 16 to 18 left a vivid impression on the capital’s viewers. Over the course of three days, the company presented six different performances for children and adults, accompanied by a symphony orchestra, El.kz cites astanaopera.kz.

Kálmán’s operetta Die Csárdásfürstin was staged by Yuri Alexandrov from St. Petersburg, well-known to the capital’s listeners for his works. The performance told a story of love and intrigue in the world of a music hall in Budapest. Designer Vyacheslav Okunev created excellent sets and costumes. The viewers highly appreciated the performers’ vocal skills and expressiveness of the stage action.

The next day, the operetta Eine Nacht in Venedigto Strauss’ well-known music was presented to the audience’s attention. Stage director Susanna Tsiryuk created a cheerful comedy full of deceptions, entanglements, and love. Choreographer Anton Dorofeev enhanced the production with exciting choreographic numbers, giving certain charm and lightness to the performance.

Kancheli’s musical comedy The Tricks of Khanuma completed the tour. It tells the story of the noble, but ruined Prince Vano Pantiashvili and his search for a rich bride. The performance was greeted with great enthusiasm. Khanuma, a clever matchmaker, helped the heroes in love find happiness.

“Attending tour performances of the Qaraghandy Academic Musical Comedy Theatre at Astana Opera was a real discovery for me. The operettas Die Csárdásfürstin and Eine Nacht in Venedigwere presented with such skill that I was completely immersed in their world. It was truly a pleasure for the soul,” Dulat Mashikov, a viewer who came to see two performances, shared his impressions.

The children’s program also featured three performances. Each of them was greeted with delight. Little theatregoers saw Berezin’s musical fairy tale Cinderella. The story about the most beautiful, kind and hardworking girl, who, thanks to her pure soul, meets a magical Prince, called forth a thunderous applause. Young viewers and their parents were fascinated by the fairytale atmosphere.

Makarevich’s cheerful musical Dunno was received no less enthusiastically. The adventures of the main characters captivated the children from the first scenes. The liveliness and energy of the characters, as well as the original music, left no one indifferent.

The intriguing, joyful and educational musical The Princess and the Pea, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale to Nikolai Makarevich’s music, allowed little music lovers to learn important moral lessons. Certainly, once again the children were drawn in by the characters and their colorful costumes, and parents noted that such performances not only entertain, but also teach kindness, patience and courage.

“I really liked the fairy tale about Cinderella! She was so tender-hearted and kind, and her dress was simply magical! The music was cheerful and beautiful, and the prince was so wonderful! I also liked the musical about Dunno, it was funny and interesting. I want to come to such performances again,” Liliya Merg, a 5th grade student at the capital’s school, said after the performance.
