The draft concepts for the development of physical culture and sports, as well as the tourism industry for 2023-2029 were considered at the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.

Head of the Ministry of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov reported that the concept of development of physical culture and sport provides for measures to involve citizens, including persons with disabilities, in systematic physical culture and sport, the formation of a highly professional sports reserve and development of sport of the highest achievements.

In particular, there are plans to build new sports infrastructure facilities within walking distance in cities (running and cycle paths and sports areas), grassroots sports centres in the regions and modular sports facilities in rural areas. At the same time, attention will also be paid to holding mass sporting events and sports events with the broad involvement of everyone and posting their schedules in the media space.

"Now in many cities, sports grounds are appearing in the yards where children and adults can do physical exercises. This is a very good practice that is becoming more and more popular among the people of Kazakhstan. We must continue to build such facilities to make basic sports accessible to everyone," Alikhan Smailov said.

It was also noted at the meeting that modern methods of training athletes and improving the quality of medical support are to be introduced. In the coming years this work will be carried out within the framework of preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games Paris-2024 and Milan-2026.

In terms of development of the tourism industry it is planned to implement measures to modernise infrastructure in 10 major tourist destinations of the country, improve the quality of services, promote the country's tourism potential in the international arena, etc.

Thus, it is planned to build and reconstruct roads to resort areas of Balkhash, Kapshagay, Alakol and Bayanaul, to cover 100% of resort areas with mobile communication, to conduct necessary engineering networks in Schuchinsk-Borovoye resort area, build additional water-rescue stations at water bodies, etc.

In addition, work will be done to open new air routes, digitalise tourism services, raise standards in the hotel business and other sectors of the industry.

As a result of the implementation of all measures by 2030 it is planned to increase the number of domestic tourists to 11 million people, foreign tourists to 4 million people, employment in the industry to 800 thousand people, as well as to bring Kazakhstan into the top 50 countries of the world for tourism development according to the World Economic Forum rating
