Katon-Karagai National Nature Park shared a photo of a snow leopard, El.kz reports with reference to Noks.kz.
The animal caught by photo trap in the spring, but the image was published only now, timed to coincide with the publication of the International Snow Leopard Day, which is celebrated in late October.
The snow leopard is listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan as a predator, number of which is declining.
In addition to Kazakhstan, the snow leopard is found in China, Mongolia, India, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Uzbekistan. The total number of snow leopards on earth ranges from 4-6 thousand individuals, "the Katon-Karagai National Park noted.
