Single Internet domain can be registered for Eurasian countries

The deputy speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov took the initiative to register the top-level domain .ea, which will become a digital symbol of the unification of Eurasian countries,  El.kz reports.

According to Chernyshov, such a step will emphasize the unity of the continent in the context of the growing multipolarity of the world. He noted that the geographical proximity of the countries of Eurasia already contributes to their cooperation in the economy, science and culture, and a single Internet domain could further strengthen this process.

The proposal came amid information about the possible removal of the .su domain, which was originally associated with the Soviet Union. According to the Domain Name Wire portal, the international organization ICANN has announced plans to gradually withdraw this domain from circulation by 2030. Currently, about 100 thousand domain names are registered in the .su zone, and it is still available to new users.

Chernyshov believes that the registration of .ea will not only be a symbolic step, but will also open up new digital opportunities for the countries of Eurasia. However, how exactly this initiative will be implemented and whether it will find support among the states of the region remains a question.
