Senate approves Law on cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in field of ecology
Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev chaired a meeting of the Chamber, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Senate.
The Senators considered the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Cooperation in the Field of Ecology and Environmental Protection".
The agreement is aimed at developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the field of environmental protection. In particular, they focused on measures such as the prevention and control of pollution of atmospheric air, water, solid waste, the preservation of biological diversity, the protection of the ecosystem from degradation and the prevention of sandstorms, and many others.
In addition, the Agreement provides for the development of joint measures to improve the environmental situation in the Aral Sea basin.
At the same time, in accordance with the norms of the international instrument, joint research work in the field of environmental monitoring will be carried out. Along with this, the development of regulations for the exchange of information on the state of the environment in the border areas of the States of the Parties, mutual information and the adoption of the necessary measures for emergencies with a transboundary impact on the environment have also been determined.
