Repo market in US dollars launched on Astana International Exchange
The repo market (sale and repurchase transactions) has been launched on the Astana International Exchange. Market participants can trade and conduct repo transactions with shares denominated in US dollars, El.kz reports with reference to the AIFC.
The repo market is initially available for Kaspi, Kazatomprom and Halyk Bank securities with a period of one day to four weeks.
The launch of the repo market offers great opportunities for all local retail investors and trading members and opens up the capital market to an expanded number of major players, increasing overall liquidity and transparency on the AIX .
«We are committed to meeting the demand of our retail customers, and the creation of the repo market will contribute to its further development and growth," Olivier Garys, Managing Director of Operations at AIX said.
Access to the repo market can be obtained through a special Repo Webtrader interface or the FIX order management system. Settlements on repo transactions will be carried out by the AIX Central Securities Depository (AIX CSD).
