President of National Olympic Committee Gennady Golovkin and IOC President discuss prospects for development of boxing
President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin took part in the General Assembly of Panam Sports, which is taking place these days in Asunción, Paraguay, El.kz news agency reports with reference to Olympic.kz.
Within the framework of the event, a meeting was held between the head of the NOC of Kazakhstan and the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach.
Mr. Bach congratulated Gennady Golovkin on his recent appointment as Chairman of the World Boxing Olympic Commission, praising his contribution to the development of world boxing. He also expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
Gennady Golovkin presented to the IOC President a detailed plan of the commission's work and announced the tasks outlined for the near future. Both sides stressed the importance of keeping boxing in the Olympic program, including at the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The President of the NOC of Kazakhstan also met with the newly elected President of Panam Sports and the NOC of Chile Neven Ilic.
Gennady Golovkin thanked Neven Ilic for providing a platform for the work of the Olympic Commission within the framework of the Panam Sports General Assembly. Neven Ilic, in turn, expressed full support and readiness to work together.
