Over 20 thousand foreign tourists visit Shymkent in 2024

According to the eQonaq information system, in the first six months of 2024, 20,950 foreign tourists visited the city of Shymkent, El.kz reports with reference to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The leaders in the number of tourists were Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation and China. The number of tourists from Uzbekistan amounted to 9,235 people, from the Russian Federation - 3,286 people, and from China - 2,360 people.

"The growth in the number of tourists in the region indicates significant efforts aimed at improving the tourism infrastructure and creating a comfortable environment for guests. We continue to work to ensure that Shymkent becomes one of the leading tourist destinations in Kazakhstan and beyond," said Nurtas Karipbayev, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee.
