Over 15,000 foreigners work in Kazakhstan
As of May 1, 2023, 15,129 foreign citizens are working in Kazakhstan with the permission of local executive bodies, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Among the permits for attracting foreign labor (hereinafter referred to as IRS), there are the following categories: 583 permits for managers and their deputies (first category), 2,993 permits for heads of structural divisions (second category). The main part of the involved IRS belongs to the third (specialists) and fourth (skilled workers) categories - 7,080 and 891 people, respectively. Also, 1,717 people were involved in seasonal work,
At the moment, there are 1,746 employers in Kazakhstan using IRS. They employ more than 411.5 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan, which is 96% of the total number of employees.
By type of economic activity, the largest number work in the following areas: construction - 5,317 people (35%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1,572 people (10%), mining and quarrying - 1,443 people (10%), professional, scientific and technical activities - 979 people (7%), manufacturing industry - 960 people (7%).
The main countries of origin of labor migrants are: China – 3,652 people (24%), Uzbekistan – 1,843 people (12%), India – 1,741 people (12%), Turkey – 1,534 people (10%).
