Outcomes of extended meeting of Government of Kazakhstan in spotlight of Netherlands-Kazakhstan business association
The tasks set by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for the Government to diversify the economy and enhance the country’s investment attractiveness have sparked significant interest among Dutch business circles,El.kz cites MFA.
These and other aspects of Kazakhstan’s economic development were discussed in The Hague at the latest meeting of the bilateral business association, which was attended by the ambassadors of both countries, representatives of Dutch and international business and research communities, as well as governmental and public institutions responsible for investment promotion and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, presented the key initiatives of the Head of State, outlining strategic priorities for ensuring sustainable socio-economic development and the rule of law. He highlighted new incentives for high-quality investments in the Kazakh economy, ongoing efforts to reduce bureaucratic barriers, and the formation of targeted legislative changes aimed at improving the business climate.
In turn, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Kazakhstan, Nico Schermers, shared recent results of bilateral cooperation across various sectors and emphasized the significant market potential of Kazakhstan and Central Asia for implementing joint business projects.
During the exchange of information and opinions, participants noted the growth in trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands, which increased by 25% in 2024, exceeding 5.2 billion US dollars. Particular attention was given to investment prospects in infrastructure modernization, considering Kazakhstan’s growing role as a key transit and logistics hub between Asia and Europe. The opportunities for the development of Kazakhstan’s tourism potential were also discussed, along with issues related to workforce training and human capital development, as the education system transitions to a research-oriented approach that fosters innovation in the era of economic digitalization and breakthrough technologies.
Members of the Netherlands-Kazakhstan Business Association, particularly from the agricultural and greenhouse sectors, horticulture, water management, and industrial equipment manufacturing, actively participated in the discussion and received responses to their inquiries. Diplomatic missions reaffirmed their commitment to providing comprehensive and practical support to foreign entrepreneurs interested in entering Kazakhstan’s rapidly growing market.
Kazakhstan’s Born Bold initiative attracted significant interest among participants. The Embassy of Kazakhstan introduced this campaign, presenting its key aspects, significance, and future prospects. The presentation highlighted that Born Bold reflects Kazakhstan’s dynamic development, investment appeal, and drive for innovation. Thematic materials prepared for the event helped deepen the audience’s understanding of the project’s concept and strategic importance.
The event, co-organized by the Chairman of the Netherlands-Kazakhstan Business Association, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan Henk Nieboer, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, and the Embassy of Kazakhstan, saw a record number of participants. It underscored the dynamic nature of Kazakhstan-Netherlands cooperation, new opportunities for its expansion, and the shared commitment of both countries to mutual economic growth.
