ON MAY 1, FESTIVAL OF FRIENDSHIP OF KAZAKHSTAN PEOPLE TO TAKE PLACE ON ‘QAZAQ ELI’ MONUMENT’S SQUARE

May 1, one of the kindest and brightest spring holidays will be celebrated in the country – Unity Day of Kazakhstan People. It is a day of friendship and accord, which are necessary for a peaceful life in the country, where representatives of more than 130 ethnic minorities live.

The holiday was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 18, 1995, it is a state holiday and is declared a day off.

On this day, the large-scale theatrical action with participation of creative collectives, actors of a philharmonic society and variety stars will be held on the square near “Qazaq eli” monument. Representatives of ethno-cultural associations of APK will take part in the Festival of friendship of Kazakhstan people.

Also this day participation of APK’s youth in action on planting of an apple-tree garden in a botanical garden is expected.

It should be noted that the idea to plant an apple orchard in the capital of Kazakhstan was voiced by Tamila Rozmetova, a member of the republican youth movement "Zhangyru Zholy", a deputy of the maslikhat of Atyrau, the general director of "Breeding farm "Saraishyk" LLP, the chairman of the Republican Chamber of Dairy Goat Breeds LLP" Tamila Rozmetova at the opening ceremony of the Year of Youth "Tauelsizdiktin urpaqtary" with participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on January 23, 2019.

"I learned that Kazakhstan is a historical homeland of apples from your article "Seven facets of the Great Steppe". Today we continue this living facet of the Great Steppe in Atyrau, we revive the glory of the Makhanbet apples. Therefore, in the Year of Youth, we want to support the youth movement at the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan "Zhangyru Zholy" with a concrete project. We want to plant an apple orchard in Nur-Sultan this spring. We have already prepared 4 varieties of special apples, which are not afraid of frost or winds. We will fully provide the garden with drip irrigation ourselves. We ask that we determine a place in the capital, at least 1 hectare," said Tamila Rozmetova then.

Yelbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev supported the initiative and instructed Mayor of Astana Bakhyt Sultanov to determine the place for the future apple orchard.

Yelbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev has repeatedly emphasized that the policy of ethnic peace and accord in the country is one of the main priorities of the state.

Since the first days of independence, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has paid great attention to preserving peace in our land. Thanks to this, today Kazakhstan has become an example of harmony and unity for many countries. In all the achievements of the republic there is a significant contribution of a unique public institution - Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, and the state creates all the conditions for the preservation and development of culture and traditions of representatives of all ethnic groups living in the country.

On April 28, 2018, at the session of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan (APK) N. Nazarbayev emphasized that the unity of the people of the republic "has been, is and will be the main condition of the renewed Kazakhstan".

"I am grateful to our people, we have the most multi-ethnic population. There has been a good understanding and you have always supported me, the policy I pursue, the policy of the state aimed at this unity, at the welfare in every family, in every home," said Nursultan Nazarbayev, addressing the members of APK.

A bright spring festival will be held in each city of Kazakhstan in a friendly procession through the main streets, as well as many entertainment events.

It is of great importance that ethno-cultural centers in all regions of the country participate in the holiday in order to familiarize the people of Kazakhstan with the traditions and customs of peoples. Funny dances, sports competitions - all this makes the event one of the brightest and favorite holidays.

Certainly, the brightest moment of the holiday is the ethno-cultural exhibitions. At the central squares and parks national dwellings of representatives of ethnoses are established - original mini-museums where it is possible to meet clothes, traditional utensils, ornaments and to taste dishes of different national cuisine.

In addition, on this day, museums and libraries of Kazakhstan organize exhibitions dedicated to the holiday and the people living in Kazakhstan. This holiday not only acquaints the people of Kazakhstan with the traditions and culture of different nationalities living on the territory of the country, it is designed to consolidate the nation into a single whole.
