Number of tourists from China who visited Kazakhstan this year increased by 8.5 fold

The number of foreigners who have arrived in Kazakhstan since the beginning of summer has tripled compared to 2022, El.kz eports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the eQonaq information system, from June 1 to July 23 of this year, 250,468 foreign citizens stayed in hotels in the country. This figure exceeds the same period last year by more than three times, when only 77,645 foreign tourists rested.

Of the total number of foreign visitors, 180 thousand or 72% were tourists from the CIS countries. It should be noted that compared to the previous year, the share of tourists from distant foreign countries increased significantly, amounting to 77%.

An interesting fact is the sharp increase in the number of tourists from some countries: the number of tourists from Mongolia increased 11.6 times (from 489 to 5,683), from China - 8.5 times (from 2,223 to 18,954), from India - 4.7 times (from 1,245 to 5,887), from South Korea - 3.8 times (from 939 to 3,585),  from Iran - 3.8 times (from 237 to 897), from Germany - 3 times (from 1,659 to 5,054), from the USA - 2.2 times (from 1,237 to 2,761).

The most popular destinations for foreign tourists in the country are the city of Almaty, where 77,308 tourists lived from June 1 to July 23, the city of Astana, where 38,463 tourists stayed, the Almaty region with 19,049 tourists and the Mangystau region with 15,062 tourists.
