On January 25, the Nomad Inspiration program premiered at Astana Opera’s Grand Hall, El.kz cites astanaopera.kz.
The exciting event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, became a creative experiment, combining modern choreographic works by talented ballet master Sultanbek Gumar and unique instrumental music of the HasSak ethno-folk ensemble.
The program included premieres of the numbers Toi Bastar and Aralym (Between the Sky and the Earth), created to the inspiring music of the HasSak ensemble, as well as Alem (Foundations of the Universe) to composer Khamit Shangaliyev’s music.
The audience had an opportunity not only to enjoy unique productions, but also to listen to performances by multi-instrumentalists of the HasSak ensemble. The musicians performed their pieces both solo and accompanied by the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Ruslan Baimurzin. Numbers such as HasSaknama, Uly Zhibek Zholy, Zauren, Ansau, Orleu, Turan Zholbarysy and Tartu were featured.
It is important to note that it was possible to implement such an ambitious program thanks to the artistic director of the ballet company Altynai Asylmuratova, who actively supports and develops young choreographers within Astana Opera’s walls.
The choreographic numbers Aralym, Alem and Toi Bastar caused sincere delight among the viewers, winning recognition for their artistic expressiveness and originality.
The number Toi Bastar opened the evening, immersing the audience in the atmosphere of Kazakh hospitality and festive joy. The bright production united 20 pairs of young dancers, whose complicated and striking movements were emphasized by the contemporary visual ideas. Traditional motives harmoniously combined with costumes designed by Dariga Taishikova, giving the number special zest.
In the number Aralym, choreographer metaphorically linked male characters with the earth and female ones with water, emphasizing the importance of caring for the environment and human relationships. In Alem, Sultanbek Gumar showcased the portrayal of a woman as the keeper of the hearth and the foundation of society. Inspired by legendary personalities Tomiris and Domalaq Ana, the production revealed wisdom, courage and tenderness of Kazakh women. The dancers’ graceful movements conveyed this multifaceted aspect, making the dance symbolic.
The program also featured other productions by Sultanbek Gumar that are loved by the viewing public: the dramatic Mangurt to Aktoty Raimkulova’s music arranged by the Turan ensemble, and the majestic Ruh, created to the composition Amanat by the HasSak ensemble.
The audience greeted each number in the program with thunderous applause, making it clear that the premiere was a success.
