New research university based on KAIST model to appear in Kazakhstan
Within the framework of the Global Summit on Education and Innovation, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek visited the Republic of Korea and held talks with the President of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Kwang-Hyung Lee. During the visit, on August 27, a ceremony was held to sign a memorandum on the establishment of a joint research university in Kazakhstan based on the KAIST model, El.kz reports.
The new university, called the Qazaqstan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (QAIST), will be created on the basis of a feasibility study, the development of which will begin in the near future.
During the visit, the working group from Kazakhstan met with professors from key departments of KAIST to discuss areas of possible cooperation and exchange experience.
QAIST will be an important contribution to the development of high technologies and scientific potential of Kazakhstan, in line with the long-term strategy of the two states.
It is expected that the new research university will contribute to progress in the field of high technology and train a new generation of specialists capable of responding to the challenges and seizing the opportunities of the future.
