An official event dedicated to the celebration of Nauryz was held at the UN Headquarters. The event was organized by the permanent missions of 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.
Opening the event, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, conveyed greetings from the UN Secretary-General to the participants, noting that “Nauryz symbolizes the rebirth of nature, the renewal of hope and the arrival of spring, as well as promotes reconciliation and solidarity between generations and communities.” She emphasized that in a world full of conflicts, the spirit of Nauryz is a precious gift, inspiring us to bridge divides and to foster unity, to commit to peace, dialogue and mutual respect.
The Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN, Kairat Umarov, in his remarks, highlighted that Nauryz embodies timeless values of renewal, harmony, and hope, reminding us of the profound harmony between humanity and nature, as well as the essential importance of unity. He also emphasized the particular relevance of the celebration in light of the “historic signing of the state border treaty between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which demonstrated the true spirit of Nauryz.”
As part of the cultural program, Kazakhstan was represented by a performance from student Amanmyrza Zhusipkhan, who played “Balbyraun” by Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly and “Alkissa” by Nurgisa Tlendiyev.
The event concluded with a tasting of traditional national dishes from the organizing countries. Kazakhstan treated guests to traditional festive dishes that invariably adorn the generous tables during the Nauryz celebrations.
