Most athletic region named in Kazakhstan

At the award ceremony in Astana, as part of the Uzdik Sports Award for 2023, Almaty is awarded as the "Best Athletic Region" of Kazakhstan. This recognition emphasizes the significant contribution of the city to the development of sports at the national level, El.kz reports with reference to the city akimat.

In the category "Breakthrough of the Year" is awarded to Rizabek Aitmukhan, a native of the Almaty school of higher sportsmanship, and in the nomination "Best Sports Result" the victory was won by a gymnast from Almaty Milad Karimi.

Almaty also achieved significant success, taking first place at the VI Summer Spartakiad of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As part of the competition, Almaty athletes demonstrated high results in such disciplines as boxing, gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, taekwondo and others.

During 2023, more than 2500 sports events were held in Almaty, including 35 large-scale international events, covering over 305,000 participants and spectators. The city also has an extensive sports infrastructure, including 3,703 sports facilities available for physical education and sports.
