Metapneumovirus detected in Kazakhstan
According to media reports, metapneumovirus (HMPV) is circulating around the world, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the ministry.
Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is one of the respiratory infections actively circulating in different countries, including Kazakhstan.
According to the sanitary and epidemiological control committee , 8,360 samples for non-influenza viruses were tested in Kazakhstan in the 2024-2025 epidemic season. 22% of the samples were positive (1,866 cases). Among them: 36.4% detected rhinovirus, 23.2% - RS virus , 11.1% - coronavirus and 1.6% were positive for human metapneumovirus.
Its many symptoms are coughing, runny nose, fever and headache.
The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan advises to avoid crowded places, especially and at the first symptoms, seek medical help.
