Memory of Kazakh soldiers died 30 years ago honoured in Astana

A commemorative event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the feat of the soldiers of the Internal Troops of Kazakhstan was held at the National Defense University, El.kz reports with reference to the Official Channel of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Round table on the topic "30 years of memory and courage of the soldiers of the Internal Troops. Lessons and Conclusions" brought together representatives of law enforcement agencies, teachers, cadets and undergraduates from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The participants honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence.
The main report was made by the Deputy Commander of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major-General Baurzhan Abzhanov. He honoured the tragic events that took place three decades ago, when the fighters of the KAZBAT unit came under an armed attack:
"17 young soldiers were killed in this battle. Monuments have been erected in their honor in every region of the country, and in Astana, 17 trees have been planted at the Monument to the Defenders of the Fatherland and a memorial plate with their names installed," he said.
Veterans of those events Kairatbek Satbayev and Nurzhan Baibosynov shared their memories. Retired Lieutenant General Bulat Dzhanasayev, Major Generals Zhumabek Akhmetov, Bakhtiyar Syzdykov, Kaliakpar Tokushev and other officers also addressed the participants.
Representatives of the partner countries Colonel Iftikhor Faizullozoda from Tajikistan and Colonel Meder Eshenkulov from Kyrgyzstan – spoke about international experience in preserving the memory of the fallen soldiers and the importance of heroic traditions in the education of officers.
