Memorial honoring soviet soldiers fallen in liberation of Vienna unveiled in Austria

As part of commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II, a memorial plaque bearing the names of Soviet soldiers who fell during the Vienna Offensive was solemnly unveiled in, the capital of Lower Austria, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.

Among these heroes are Kazakhstan soldiers who fought bravely for Austria's liberation from fascist forces. Ambassadors and diplomats from CIS countries, representatives of the Lower Austrian administration, and local residents participated in the wreath laying ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Austria Mukhtar Tileuberdi emphasized that the shared history of combating fascism provides a strong foundation for promoting democratic values and enhancing friendship and cooperation between our peoples.

Relatives arriving from Kazakhstan attended the event, including the grandson and great-granddaughter of Junior Sergeant Tashzhan Tokushev of the 105th Guards Rifle Division, who died on April 15, 1945. On the same day, a separate ceremony honoring the heroism of Kazakhs during the Great Patriotic War took place at Tokushev’s grave in Herzogenburg, attended by his descendants and diplomats of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Austria.
