Meeting of Ministers of Culture of the SCO countries held in Vitebsk
A meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held today in Belarus, in the city of Vitebsk,El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by representatives of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Iran and India. SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming also arrived in Vitebsk.
Kazakhstan was represented at the meeting by Vice Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Evgeny Kochetov, who stressed the importance of cultural interaction between the SCO member countries.
"The preservation and development of forms of cultural expression and dialogue is increasingly becoming the basis of the diplomacy of our states, contributing to overcoming conflicts and bringing mutual interests closer together," said Evgeny Kochetov.
During the talks, the participants summed up the results of joint work and outlined plans for the future. Projects such as holding the International Youth Forum "Through Traditions to the Future" and the possibility of creating an analogue of Eurovision were discussed.
The meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the SCO countries was held within the framework of the XXXIII International Festival of Arts "Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk" held from 9 to 15 July.
