March 27 - World Theatre Day

World Theatre Day is celebrated annually on the 27th March and reminds of the power of performing arts that can unite generations and inspire millions of people, El.kz reports.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the IV meeting of the National Kurultay stressed the importance of theatrical art for the cultural development of society.
Today, there are 70 theatres, including 57 state, 11 republican, and 46 regional. Over the past four years, five new state theaters have been opened in the country, which indicates an increase in demand and active development of theatrical art.
Kazakh theaters not only delight the audience not only countrywide but also worldwide. In 2024, 396 tours were organized, of which 350 were within the country and 46 abroad. During the year, the theaters of Kazakhstan presented over 200 new productions, 107 of which are based on the works of domestic authors. About 9 thousand specialists work in the theatrical sphere of Kazakhstan.
The Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva congratulated everyone who contributes to the development of theatrical art - actors, directors, playwrights, set designers, lighting and sound designers, costume designers, make-up artists, administrators and technical specialists.
She noted that thanks to the dedication of these people and the love of the audience, the theater continues to inspire, surprise and fill hearts with art.
