The Kyrgyz Republic will supply over 600mln cubic meters of irrigation water  to Kazakhstan in 2025, El.kz reports citing Kazakh Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry.

At the 35th meeting of the Chu-Talas commission on interstate use of water management facilities, the parties agreed to increase the volume of water supplies to Kazakhstan in the current irrigation season.

Under the agreement, Kyrgyzstan will provide an additional 400 million cubic meters of water along the Talas River and 180 million cubic meters along the Chu River.

Most of the water will be used for the agricultural needs in the Zhambyl region.

During the meeting, the parties summed up the Work Plan of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz joint working group on environmental protection and water quality.

According to Nurzhan Nurzhigitov,  last year Kazakhstan received 418 million cubic meters instead of the projected 380 million cubic meters on the Talas River, and 165.3 million cubic meters on the Chu River, which is 29.7 million cubic meters more than a year earlier.
