The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at the United Nations has published the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 (GCI) report. According to the new methodology, Kazakhstan took a place in the second group (Tier 2 – Advancing), scoring 94.04 points out of 100 possible, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan has entered the Tier 2 – Advancing group, along with countries such as China, Austria, Canada and Azerbaijan. 194 countries of the world participated in the assessment. In the previous report (2020/2021), where the old methodology was applied, Kazakhstan ranked 31st.

Within the framework of the new methodology, our country has fulfilled all the requirements in the areas of "legal" and "cooperation", and also demonstrated a sufficient technical level. However, in order to further increase the rating, it is necessary to strengthen organizational measures, develop potential, and strengthen measures in the field of international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, the report says.
