Kazakhstan strengthens cooperation with international  community in environmental field

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov received the delegation of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), which arrived in Kazakhstan, headed by the Director General of the Organization, Frank Rijsberman, El.kz cites MFA.

The GGGI’s official delegation is in our country for the first time after Kazakhstan officially became the 45th member of the Organization in December 2022.

During the negotiation, the parties exchanged views on the global climate agenda, where they discussed the impact of climate change on Kazakhstan's and Central Asia countries' sustainable development.

During the first meeting, the GGGI Director General shared information about the activities of the Organization and presented the mechanisms of cooperation and ongoing projects of GGGI in other countries.

In turn, Umarov informed about Kazakh initiatives in the ecology and sustainable development field, including attracting green investments through the Kazakh Invest and the Astana International Financial Centre platforms. “Our country has all the necessary opportunities to develop fruitful cooperation with GGGI, and we look forward to the implementation of breakthrough green projects in water and waste management, decarbonization, as well as adaptation to climate change,” the Kazakh diplomat said.

Rijsberman highly appreciated the active climate position of the leadership of our country and expressed his intention to continue consultations with interested state bodies and organizations on future joint projects. In conclusion, the GGGI representative informed about the plans to open a country office – a representative office of GGGI in Kazakhstan in the near future.
