The Vice Minister of Transport held a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Communications, Railways and Maritime Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, El.kz reports citing the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Talgat Lastayev and Syed Mazhar Ali Shah discussed issues of cooperation in the railway sector and in the fields of road and sea transport. In addition, the issues of holding the Intergovernmental Commission, an expert meeting and the visit of the Kazakh delegation to Pakistan in the first half of this year were considered.

The Deputy Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan confirmed the intention to cooperate with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and noted that the parties first of all need to create an effective transport and logistics system, which will play a crucial role in intensifying partnerships.

"To date, there is no railway communication between our countries, but we see a high potential for the use of transit corridors. Kazakhstan is interested in implementing the project for the construction of ML-4 Gwadar-Quetta and Kohat-Tal-Kharlachi railway lines in order to expand and simplify trade along land routes," Lastayev said.

He also shared a plan of organizing a multimodal communication via the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route for transportation of goods by railroad and road transport.
