Kazakh Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov held a staff meeting on preparations for the flood period.
Flood modeling is conducted for 142 hydrological posts on 128 sections of rivers in Kazakhstan. 114 specialists from basin inspections and branches of "Kazvodkhoz" are conducting daily monitoring of data from these hydrological posts.
The Tasqyn system is integrated into GloFAS, the global flood alert system.
The final forecast for the 2025 flood season will be presented in early March.
In addition, Kazakhstan maintains constant communication with colleagues from neighboring states to coordinate actions in case of flood risk. One of the key preparation measures was the early release water from reservoirs.
According to the minister, at present, their reserve capacities allow receiving up to 13 billion cubic meters of flood water.
