Kazakhstan invites Switzerland to invest in transportation infrastructure

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov participated in the international forum “The Greater Caspian Region – A Corridor for Energy, Logistics and Trade Flows between Asia and Europe”, organized by the Swiss Joint Chambers of Commerce and the Greater Caspian Region Association NGO with the support of the Swiss export promotion agency Switzerland Global Enterprise, El.kz cites MFA.

The forum was attended by the business community, prominent experts in transport and logistics, politicians and lawyers, the leadership of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and the Europe and Central Asia Transport and Trade Association (ECATA), as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Speakers focused on the advantages of the Trans-Caspian international transport route linking Europe and Asia, emphasizing the importance of the region as a source of traditional and renewable energy and multimodal logistics links. The growing importance of the Middle Corridor for ensuring food and energy security in the context of sanctions confrontation was emphasized.

Ambassador noted the strategic importance of the transport and logistics industry for the economic development of the country and the important role of the Trans-Caspian route in strengthening the transit potential, which was outlined in the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev`s State of the Nation Address “Economic course of a Just Kazakhstan” in September. The Ambassador called on Swiss business to invest in the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk, as well as the dry port of Khorgos in order to improve the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian international transportation route and increase trade flows from China and Europe.
