Kazakhstan increases gas production
Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyec spoke about the development of the country's gas industry at a government meeting, El.kz reports
As the minister noted, in recent years, gas production in the country has been growing steadily. The production plan for 2024 is 60.5 billion m3 or 2.3% of the 2023 volume.
The main increase in gas production is provided for by large fields such as Karachaganak, Tengiz and Kashagan.
Of the total volume of commercial gas for the needs of the domestic market in 2023, 19.4 billion m3 were supplied. The projected consumption for 2024 is about 20.9 billion m3.
As part of attracting investments in the exploration and development of new gas fields, QazaqGaz and Chevron signed an Agreement on the joint implementation of geological exploration of the Zhalibek gas and gas condensate field in the Aktobe region.
In the period from 2026 to 2030, the phased commissioning of 4 gas processing plants will begin: on the basis of raw materials from the Kashagan with a capacity of 2.5 billion m3/year, the Karachaganak field with a capacity of up to 4 billion m3/year, as well as the Zhanaozen with a capacity of 900 million cubic meters, the minister said.
In addition, the Qatari investor «UCC Holding» was involved in the construction of gas processing plants based on the raw materials of the Kashagan field. Currently, the final conditions for the implementation of these projects are being agreed between JSC "NC "Qazaq Gaz" and «UCC Holding».
GPP construction at Karachaganak will be implemented at the expense of the Operator. In February of this year, the acceptance of documents for participation in the EPC tender was completed. Tenders from potential vendors are currently being evaluated.
