Kazakhstan continues to demonstrate positive dynamics in the international rating "Corruption Perceptions Index" (CPI) by Transparency International. In 2024, the country received 40 points and rose by 5 positions, taking 88th place among 180 states, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Anti-Corruption Service of Kazakhstan.
This result was a new historic achievement due to comprehensive anti-corruption measures. The global average was 43 points, while the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, which includes 19 countries, averaged 35 points. Kazakhstan is a confident leader among the Central Asian states and is the only country in the region that has improved its position in the ranking.
Since 2016, Kazakhstan has shown significant progress, increasing the indicator by 11 points (from 29 to 40). In the current ranking, the country is ahead of states with similar economic conditions, but countries such as India (38 points), Indonesia (37), Argentina (37), Serbia (35), Ukraine (35), Brazil (34), Thailand (34), Turkey (34), Belarus (33), Russia (22) and others are below Kazakhstan.
The CPI is a composite index formed on the basis of data from 9 different organizations. The ratings are based on expert and business analysis of the perception of the level of corruption in the public sector.
