Kazakhstan implements VAT refund pilot project for foreign tourists
n order to develop inbound tourism, the State Revenue Committee is implementing a pilot project "Tax free", which provides for compensation of the amount of VAT to citizens of foreign countries when exporting goods outside the customs territory of the EAEU with an amount of at least 20 minimum calculation indices, El.kz reports.
By order of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the implementation period for this pilot project was extended from June 30, 2023 to December 31, 2024 with the expansion of geography to the city of Shymkent.
Prior to the amendments, the implementation period of the pilot project was limited to June 30 of this year and applied to trade entities located in the cities of Astana, Almaty and Turkestan.
The order is registered with the Ministry of Justice and shall enter into force upon expiry of ten calendar days after the day of its first official publication.
