Kazakhstan celebrates International Dance Day

Today, on April 29, Kazakhstan is hosting events timed to coincide with the International Dance Day, a holiday established in 1982 by the International Dance Council of UNESCO, El.kz reports.
According to Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information, the day before, a festive concert of the State Honored Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Saltanat” was held at the Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth named after Gabit Musrepov.
The audience enjoyed the silent magic of dance, imbued with national traditions and subtle emotional expressiveness. At the end of the event, the artists of the ensemble "Saltanat" received congratulations from creative teams and educational institutions in the field of culture.
"Kazakh songs and melodies sounded from the stage on this day," the message reads.
The Gulder ensemble also joined the celebration of the International Dance Day. From April 24 to 27, its artist Saniya Sakenova took part in the XVIII International Choreography competition «Riga spring 2025».
Presenting the Kazakh dance "Akbayan" and the Mongolian production "Temulen", she won two gold medals and became a laureate of the first degree. Saniya also received a scholarship to study at the Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet & the Fine Arts.
The chief choreographers of the ensemble "Gulder" Anvara Sadykova and Saniya Sakenova herself were invited to cooperate by the artistic director of the American Academy. In addition, the team was awarded a special award - "For the preservation and development of national dance culture".
