Kazakhstan and WHO sign cooperation strategy til 2030

The Strategy of Country Cooperation between the Kazakh Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization until 2030 was signed in Astana, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Health.
The document was signed by the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova and the WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge. The goal of the strategy is to support national health policies and achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The new strategy covers key areas: reducing the impact of disease risk factors through intersectoral solutions, modernizing primary health care, ensuring equitable access to quality health services, and responding to the challenges of climate change and health emergencies.
As Minister Akmaral Alnazarova noted, the document will be an important step in strengthening the country's healthcare system.
“By working together with WHO, we will make significant step in improving public health and ensuring equitable access to health services," she said.
According to experts, non-communicable diseases (in particular, cardiovascular pathologies), as well as mental and infectious diseases, including tuberculosis, HIV and vaccine-preventable diseases, remain among the most pressing problems.
Despite the progress made in the development of digital medicine and infrastructure, Kazakhstan still faces difficulties in the distribution of medical personnel and ensuring the financial sustainability of the system. The strategy focuses on further strengthening primary health care as the main mechanism for achieving universal health coverage.
Hans Kluge, Head of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, stressed that the document is the result of close cooperation with the government and international partners and will build a reliable, sustainable and equitable health system focused on long-term results.
