The states agreed to share daily data on the state of reservoirs and river levels during the flood period, El.kz reports.

To effectively prepare for spring floods, Kazakhstan and Russia have begun a regular exchange of operational data on all transboundary rivers connecting the territories of the two states. This process will continue until the end of the flood season.

Since the beginning of the year, two meetings of the Joint Kazakhstan-Russian Working Group on Interaction During the Passage of Floods and Flooding have been held. At these meetings, the parties discussed the established and planned modes of operation of reservoirs, exchanged forecasts for water inflows, and also assessed possible changes in water levels in rivers.

According to Nurlan Aldamzharov, Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation,  Kazakhstan conducts round-the-clock monitoring of hydrological facilities. Specialists monitor the water level in rivers and reservoirs, providing their free capacity for the safe passage of flood water. A total of 240 kilometers of rivers which also flow through the Russian Federation have already been cleaned.
