Kazakhstan and Hungary expand opportunities for economic cooperation in agriculture

Abzal Saparbekuly, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Hungary, held a meeting with István Nagy, the Minister of Agriculture of Hungary, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and key priorities for further development of Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation in the field of agriculture. In addition, they exchanged views on enhancing mutual trade in agricultural and food products, the activities of Hungarian companies in the agro-industrial sector, and the implementation of joint investment projects in seed production, livestock breeding, and poultry farming.
Furthermore, considering Kazakhstan’s recent official authorization to export honey to the European Union, a request was made for support in increasing exports of Kazakh honey to Hungary, as well as for sharing Hungarian expertise in branding and promoting Kazakh beekeeping products in order to access international markets.
The Ambassador emphasized Kazakhstan’s strong interest in cooperating with Hungarian companies in the agricultural sector. In this context, the importance of intensifying joint efforts to realize the trade potential between the two countries was highlighted, particularly in the lead-up to the Kazakh Trade Mission’s visit to Hungary (March 17–19, 2025). Additionally, both sides underscored the need to facilitate business communities in identifying new market opportunities in Kazakhstan and Hungary.
In turn, Minister Nagy reaffirmed that Kazakhstan remains a key partner for Hungary in Central Asia, with particular attention given to strengthening bilateral cooperation. In this regard, he confirmed Hungary’s readiness to foster ties between agricultural producers from both countries and to support the implementation of joint agricultural projects in Kazakhstan and Hungary.
Moreover, the parties agreed to conduct a follow-up on agricultural agreements reached during recent high-level visits and within the framework of the Kazakh-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. It is noteworthy that the Commission’s ninth session is scheduled to take place this year in Astana, under the chairmanship of the ministries of national economy of both countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Hungarian Minister was briefed on the political and economic reforms currently underway in Kazakhstan, as well as on the measures being undertaken by the Kazakh Government to enhance the investment climate and support foreign investors.
Following the discussions, both sides acknowledged the steady progress of Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation in agriculture and agreed to maintain a regular dialogue on all matters of mutual interest.
