Kazakhstan and FAO discuss prospects cooperation in agro-industrial complex

Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Aidarbek Saparov held a working meeting with FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia Viorel Gutu. During the talks, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation within the framework of Kazakhstan's partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), El.kz reports.
FAO is providing technical support to Kazakhstan in the development of strategic documents, including the Concept for the Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex until 2030 and the National project for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021 – 2025. In 2024, funding began for the Kazakhstan-FAO Partnership Programme, which implements initiatives in the field of seed production and combating land degradation. Currently, the organization is implementing 55 technical assistance projects in the country.
Aidarbek Saparov noted that Kazakhstan is interested in the development and implementation of a unified automated information system and a geographic information platform based on AI.
Another key topic of the meeting was the promotion of Kazakh agricultural products to world markets. Joint work with FAO will accelerate the process of certification and standardization of products in accordance with international requirements. Kazakhstan also intends to expand exports of processed agricultural products to Africa and Asia as part of FAO's food assistance programmes.
Viorel Gutu praised the partnership with Kazakhstan, noting its positive dynamics.
"We have an active cooperation program and big plans for the future. The areas of partnership that have been announced today are very important and will be continued," he stressed.
