Kazakhstan and China start water resources allocation negotiation for transboundary rivers
The parties discussed important issues of river water allocation, which affect such priority areas as the provision of water resources in the Ile-Balkhash basin, as well as the development of tourism and fishing, El.kz reports.
Ad Hoc Working Group of Experts has been created, aimed at long-term cooperation in the water sector.
In the near future, Kazakhstan plans to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China, which will affect joint efforts to modernize and automate the water infrastructure of Kazakhstan. Important topics of discussion were the introduction of water-saving technologies and the training of Kazakh specialists in China.
Ambassador Zhang Xiao, reaffirmed China's serious attitude towards water cooperation and expressed readiness to continue exchanging experience and technology to improve water management between the two countries.
