Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture invests in production of sugar beet

The Ministry of Agriculture plans to develop the production of sugar beet in Kazakhstan and will allocate additional subsidies for farmers for these purposes, El.kz reports.

In September, the supply of sugar from Russia to Kazakhstan will resume, in addition, the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a program for the development of the sugar industry.

The Ministry of Agriculture plans to increase the volume of sugar beet to 43%.

Together with akimats, the issue of involving farmers is now being worked out. First, we plan to increase subsidies to make it attractive and cost-effective for the farmer. Unfortunately, sugar beet - a rather complex crop and requires special equipment - combines cost almost 500 thousand dollars, the plant is quite avian. It is also planned to do a lot of work on water supply, the introduction of water-saving technologies in order to provide beets with water. It is planned to work with plants, their modernization. By 2025-2026, we plan to increase the volume of sugar beet to 43%. The main indicator will be the yield of sugar," Oserbay said.

The vice minister added that the project for the development of beet growing will be launched in the autumn of this year.
