Kazakh, Russian PMs discuss development of trade and economic cooperation
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin in the building of the Government, El.kz reports citing primeminister.kz.
The talks centred on the implementation of the agreements reached between the presidents of the two countries, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin, to increase the volume of mutual trade.
The parties considered plans to expand economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, as well as cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy and transport.
Russia remains a key strategic partner and reliable friend for Kazakhstan. According to the results of 11 months of 2024, the trade turnover between the countries reached $24.2 billion, rising to $30 billion.
The positive results of the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Program for 2021-2025 were also noted, and the parties expressed their intention to develop an updated plan for the future.
"Thanks to the joint efforts of our presidents, bilateral cooperation has reached a new level. Kazakhstan is ready for active cooperation in all areas," Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.
In turn, Mikhail Mishustin noted: "Our relations with Kazakhstan are based on friendship, good neighborliness and mutual respect. The governments of the two countries need to strictly implement the agreements reached at the highest level."
