Kazakh Ministry of Tourism proposes to simplify Neo Nomad Visa obtaining and expand Tax Free

Kazakhstan plans to introduce an electronic version of the Neo Nomad Visa and expand the Tax Free system throughout the country, El.kz reports citing the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
According to the head of the department, Yerbol Myrzabossynov, now the Neo Nomad Visa is available only through foreign institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, but it is planned to launch electronic submission of applications through the visa migration portal. The innovation will simplify the process and expand the influx of foreign citizens who want to stay in the country for up to one year.
"This is an important step towards of a flexible, modern visa policy. The simplified format is set to develop the digital tourism," the minister said.
The second direction will be the improvement of the Tax Free system - a mechanism for refunding VAT to foreign tourists for purchases. Since 2019, it has been operating in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and Turkestan in pilot mode.
In this regard, the Ministry of Tourism proposes to transfer the system from a pilot to a permanent format; to introduce it in all regions of the country; to create a more convenient digital platform for VAT refunds for tourists.
The development of shopping tourism is recognized as one of the effective tools for increasing consumer activity and increasing income from inbound tourism.
