Kazakh craftsman makes jewelry for Queen of Jordan
January 31 is World Jeweler's Day. One of the brightest representatives of the jewelry art of Kazakhstan is Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holder of Carl Faberge Order, and Honorary Jeweler of Muslim World Berik Alibay, El.kz reports citing Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information.
He began making his first jewelry as a child, using aluminum to please his mother and grandmother. Today, his works are worn not only by Kazakhstanis, but also by world celebrities. One of the landmark events in his career was the creation of jewelry for Queen of Jordan.
Berik Alibay received a professional education in Almaty and, together with student friends, opened first workshop. It was the 90s, when independent Kazakhstan gave private jewelers the opportunity to work with precious metals.
He devoted over 30 years to working with the museum fund, engaged in restoration. But even today, decades later, the jeweler does not stop creating. His made products are not just jewelry, but a part of the history of the Kazakh national jewelry art.
