Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Kazakh Minister of Agriculture

The Head of State heard a report on the results of the development of the agricultural sector for 9 months of 2024,El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

According to the minister, to date, 98% of the area has been harvested, 25.2 million tons of grain have been threshed out. Farmers plan to harvest a record 1.2 million tons of sugar beet, as well as a good harvest of fodder crops.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed that for 9 months of this year, more than 796 thousand tons of meat were produced with an increase of 4.5% compared to the same period last year. Milk production increased by 4.2% and amounted to 2.8 million tons.

As part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Processing until 2028, the ministry takes  measures to increase workload of enterprises and expand sales markets for the products of domestic enterprises. It is planned to increase the share of processing of milk, meat, sunflower, rice, corn and buckwheat processing to 70%.

The Head of State was also presented with plans for 2025. The ministry plans to accelerate diversification of crops by reducing water-intensive and monocultures, increasing the area of highly profitable and priority crops.

In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a number of tasks for the minister to further develop the agro-industrial complex and ensure food security.
