President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

The President congratulated King Abdullah II on the 25th silver jubilee reign, wishing him further success in the implementation of creative initiatives to ensure sustainable growth and prosperity of the people of Jordan and increasing the country's authority in the international arena.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the Jordanian leader for his contribution to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Jordan is recognized by the international community for its unwavering commitment to peace and stability, he said.

“The purpose of my visit is to give an additional impetus to our relations, friendship and trade and economic ties. I believe that we share the common views and assessments of the processes taking place in the world. At the same time, we are very interested in strengthening ties at the political level. We have certain ideas. I am sure that in the near future we will be able to reach concrete agreements and achieve very good results. We are ready to work hard within the framework of our cooperation. We consider Jordan to be a friendly state. We have a lot in common," he said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the Joint Statement and the agreements to be adopted today serve as an example of a common desire to build up Kazakh-Jordanian cooperation across the entire spectrum of the bilateral and multilateral agenda.

King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein noted that the visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opens up wide opportunities for further expansion of bilateral political, trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

During the talks, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of contacts in such key sectors as trade, investment, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, tourism, energy, digitalization and pharmaceuticals.

Special attention was paid to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Currently, about 300 citizens of Jordan are studying in medical universities in Kazakhstan.

The President of Kazakhstan and the King of Jordan also exchanged views on topical issues of international and regional security.

In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited the King of Jordan to visit Kazakhstan.
