How opinion polls on elections be conducted in Kazakhstan

Thus, a member of the headquarters "For Fair Elections" Zhanar Bukanova explained the procedure for organizing and conducting electoral polls, as well as legislative innovations in conducting sociological surveys. She also pointed out the details on the norms governing participation in the election to the Mazhilis and Maslikhats.

"During the constitutional reform, several changes were made to the law. According to it, an electoral sociological survey cannot be conducted by random organizations and citizens. Before it is held, relevant information should be provided on where and what questions will be asked," the speaker said.

The representative of the headquarters "For Fair Elections" Duman Zhampeisov spoke about the legal basis for conducting public opinion polls of participants in the electoral process related to elections and election campaigning.

"The survey is conducted by organizations with at least 5 years of experience. Its drivers should warn the Central Election Commission that we will conduct a survey to identify public opinion," he said.

The participants of the briefing recalled the responsibility provided for by the current legislation for violating the conditions of campaigning through the media and online platforms, preparing or distributing anonymous campaign materials, spreading knowingly false information about candidates and political parties.
